So you thought reality shows were just for humans, think again! Here at UrbanPup.com, we have had the privilege of teaming up with Sky1′s brand new show ‘A Different Breed’ created by the makers of Pineapple Dance Studios but centring on people their pooches and the mad world that they live in. We have got to see all aspects of their lives from the most special of specialist diets, dogtastic days out and even an up close and personal bath time! With all this in store it was obvious we were not going to miss out on
the action.

With our good friends Jo Good and Anna Webb of Barking at the Moon fame on BBC Radio London also starring in the show it was one more fabulous reason for us to be involved and to see what their pooches get up… roof top skate boarding, swimming lessons and chilling out in the BBC London radio station, to name a few, we also had the dog wedding of the year which apparently cost
the owner £20,000!!!

One of the Urban Pup highlights had to be when Jo and Anna met up with Julian Clary at the dog friendly hotel in Kensington for afternoon tea, not only for themselves but for their dogs as well, it was so funny especially when Julian turned his wit on the waiter, but for us the main event was when Jo and Anna presented Julian with two personalised hoodies for his Staffie Albert, both of which had been designed by Urban Pup especially for the occasion.

Our role was to host a competition on A Different Breed’s dedicated Facebook  were contestants were invited to enter their dogs into one of three categories; Cutest, Best Dressed and Most Popular. Here contestants vied for first place, not just because everyone wants to be Top Dog but because the lucky winner of the competition was set to be the face of UrbanPup.com for the next 12 months, not only that but the lucky owner would receive two tickets for Legally Blonde the Musical and an overnight stay in the five star Mayfair Hotel located in London’s West End.

It was obvious to us here at Urban Pup HQ after seeing the how cute and well dressed they all were that it was going to be a close and tough battle for first place, especially with such a prestigious title at stake. The results are in and the winner has been announced, Maybellene the Pug and her owner Aislinn Ball claimed the first prize. Maybellene will be modelling for Urban Pup for the next 12 months and who knows this might be the start of a fantastic career, Kate Moss watch your back, Maybellene is coming through!

Regardless of how strange some of the antics were it has to be said that the bottom line is that all the dogs in the show and who were entered in the competition are much loved dogs, they are part of their respective families and celebrities in their own right, they are happy and contented and we here at UrbanPup.com think that’s what it’s all about, being kind and considerate to our four legged friends.
