Recently Urban Pup hosted a competition for SKY1′s new reality show ‘A Different Breed’ to enter you had to post a photograph of your dog on SKY1′s dedicated Facebook page then sit back and hope you got the most votes, there were two great prizes involved curtsey of Urban Pup so the stakes were high!!

It was a bit like the Grand National with early front runners then an outsider making the running but there was always a hard core of competitors there or there about throughout the competition including the eventually winner Maybellene the Pug.

The vote was open to the general public so the competition was fierce, but in the end the winner Maybellene the Pug romped home winning first prize not only for herself which was a 12 month modelling contract with Urban Pup and a hamper full of clothes and accessories but also a fantastic prize for her owner Aislinn Ball who said I am so proud of Maybellene for coming first in the competition and for winning me this fantastic prize’.

Aislinn won a nights stay for two in the five star Mayfair hotel in London complete with champagne dinner and tickets for Legally Blonde the Musical, so there will be some fun in London that weekend. Aislinn has a very distinctive look and is into vintage clothing, she also has her own line of clothing at BooBoo Kitty Couture.

We all had a lot of fun at Urban Pup hosting the competition and two of our favourite people ‘Barking At The Moon’ Radio DJs and best buds Jo Good and Anna Webb were the stars of the show along with the four legged pals Matilda and Molly, we have had the pleasure of being on their Thursday night show so it was no surprise that they ended up as the main characters.

We believe a second series has been commissioned so we look forward to that.

The show opens in 1930′s America and in keeping with the mood for these early scenes Toto wears one of Urban Pup’s plain and smart brown collar and lead sets. However, when Toto and Dorothy reach the glittering Emerald City the characters get dressed up to the max, with Toto looking fantastic, debuting Urban Pup’s Emerald Green Crystal Collar and Lead set.

The Urban Pup team who attended The Wizard of Oz musical said ‘The show was superb and so was Toto, he played his part to perfection and we am pleased to report that Urban Pup’s Green Crystal collar and lead set looked like a million dollars. Against the backdrop of the London Palladium plus an amazing set and with a wonderful cast Urban Pup’s Green Crystal collar and lead set fitted in perfectly.’

So you thought reality shows were just for humans, think again! Here at UrbanPup.com, we have had the privilege of teaming up with Sky1′s brand new show ‘A Different Breed’ created by the makers of Pineapple Dance Studios but centring on people their pooches and the mad world that they live in. We have got to see all aspects of their lives from the most special of specialist diets, dogtastic days out and even an up close and personal bath time! With all this in store it was obvious we were not going to miss out on
the action.

With our good friends Jo Good and Anna Webb of Barking at the Moon fame on BBC Radio London also starring in the show it was one more fabulous reason for us to be involved and to see what their pooches get up… roof top skate boarding, swimming lessons and chilling out in the BBC London radio station, to name a few, we also had the dog wedding of the year which apparently cost
the owner £20,000!!!

One of the Urban Pup highlights had to be when Jo and Anna met up with Julian Clary at the dog friendly hotel in Kensington for afternoon tea, not only for themselves but for their dogs as well, it was so funny especially when Julian turned his wit on the waiter, but for us the main event was when Jo and Anna presented Julian with two personalised hoodies for his Staffie Albert, both of which had been designed by Urban Pup especially for the occasion.

Our role was to host a competition on A Different Breed’s dedicated Facebook  were contestants were invited to enter their dogs into one of three categories; Cutest, Best Dressed and Most Popular. Here contestants vied for first place, not just because everyone wants to be Top Dog but because the lucky winner of the competition was set to be the face of UrbanPup.com for the next 12 months, not only that but the lucky owner would receive two tickets for Legally Blonde the Musical and an overnight stay in the five star Mayfair Hotel located in London’s West End.

It was obvious to us here at Urban Pup HQ after seeing the how cute and well dressed they all were that it was going to be a close and tough battle for first place, especially with such a prestigious title at stake. The results are in and the winner has been announced, Maybellene the Pug and her owner Aislinn Ball claimed the first prize. Maybellene will be modelling for Urban Pup for the next 12 months and who knows this might be the start of a fantastic career, Kate Moss watch your back, Maybellene is coming through!

Regardless of how strange some of the antics were it has to be said that the bottom line is that all the dogs in the show and who were entered in the competition are much loved dogs, they are part of their respective families and celebrities in their own right, they are happy and contented and we here at UrbanPup.com think that’s what it’s all about, being kind and considerate to our four legged friends.
